Hockey Inspires Leadership Coach Day returns on November 9 for its fifth year. Presented by Hockey Calgary in partnership with the Flames Foundation, Calgary Sport and Entertainment Corporation, and Coaches Site, this one-day event provides coaches with practical on- and off-ice strategies to help create positive, supportive environments for young athletes. Join fellow coaches for an engaging day focused on leadership, development, connection, and building the next generation of community leaders.

2026 Speakers   

Jessica Turi – Assistant Coach for PWHL San Jose

Turi joins the organization with coaching experience at the professional, university and international levels, most recently spending three seasons (2023-26) as an assistant coach with the York University women’s and men’s hockey programs. Prior to her time with the Lions, Turi served as an assistant coach with the Toronto Six (PHF), winning the 2023 Isobel Cup. From 2020-22, Turi was assistant coach and head scout at the University of Toronto, where she helped the Varsity Blues capture the 2020 McCaw Cup championship. The 39-year-old from Mississauga, ON, also brings international coaching experience, including serving as a coach at Hockey Canada’s 2025 National Women’s Team Selection Camp. As head coach of Team Ontario, she won two national gold medals, one national silver medal and three Canada Winter Games bronze medals across three U18 Women’s National Championships and two Canada Winter Games.

Mike Snee - Vice President of the Minnesota Wild Foundation and Community Relations

Mike Snee works as the Vice President of the Minnesota Wild Foundation and Community Relations. He has achieved great success driving community engagement and collaboration at all levels of hockey, energized by a deep-rooted passion for growing the game. During his 12-year tenure as Executive Director of College Hockey Inc., the Duluth, Minn., native designed and implemented a strategic plan that resulted in several new hockey programs at NCAA schools, a Canadian broadcasting rights agreement and a significant increase in revenue. Prior, Snee was impactful as the Executive Director of Minnesota Hockey, receiving the 2013 Minnesota Hockey President’s Award for exemplary service to youth hockey in the state. He also accepted the 2019 Oscar Almquist Award for his contributions to the success of high school hockey in Minnesota.  

Theo Zubot - Goaltending Coach for the Calgary Hitmen and Owner of Apex Goaltending

Theo is currently the Goalie Coach for the Calgary Hitmen, Director of Goaltending for the Calgary Northstars, and Goalie Coach for U16 Team Alberta. He also has experience working with the Canadian National Women’s Team, contributing to the preparation of their goaltenders for the 2022 Olympic Games. With over a decade of coaching experience, Theo has worked with goaltenders at the Junior, College, and Professional levels. He has also been deeply involved in the Calgary Minor Hockey community, working with various associations to support minor hockey league teams and lead goaltending development programs across the city.

Shelly Qualtieri - Clinical Social Worker and Founder of Shelly Qualtieri & Associates 

Shelly Qualtieri is a clinical social worker, therapist, and founder of Shelly Qualtieri & Associates in Calgary. She uses practical, evidence-based tools to help individuals build connections, boost self-esteem, and resolve conflict, and to help athletes and teams manage stress, bounce back from setbacks, and build a winning, high-performing culture.
